Enterprise engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott

Mr. Doohan (pronounced doo-in. As in, "how are you doin'?") signs autographs for fans. He was moving mighty slow, having had several strokes over the past few years, but he was still the favorite.

In the shots below, you'll see a red chair on stage with Mr. Doohan.  This is a replica of the chair that was made for him for Star Trek: Generations.  After the talk, it was auctioned off for charity.

Mr. Doohan was escorted on stage by the Scottish Society of Tulsa.

During his speech, Mr. Doohan explained that his health problems began during the taping of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Relics".  Relics was the episode in which he was revived after locking himself into the pattern buffer of a transporter.

He explained that half way through the taping, he was suddenly unable to remember lines and was forgetful in other ways. A few years later, after a brain scan, he learned that he had suffered a couple of silent strokes.

I hope this is not his last public appearance.
